In Art
Drawing inspiration from different styles and movements to make pieces that are uniquely her own, she explores all media as a means to express her artistic voice and is not limited to the visual arts. Her art features subjects that are of personal importance to her, and reflect her worldview.
dahlia is largely a self-taught artist. Her formal art training was begun and completed at the University of South Florida where she obtained her B.A. in Fine Arts in December of 2005.
Her work has been featured in churches, at Northern Caribbean University in Mandeville, Jamaica, in the University of South Florida's College of Fine Art's shows, in USF publications, with VSArts of Florida, the Lyssa Morgan Gallery, the See.Me collective (NYC, Miami, Paris), and the Every Woman Biennial/SUPERCHIEF NFT GALLERY SHOW 2021 NYC. Her art has been used for the album art for “Everybody Loves Bob Marley” a new CD compilation released in October 2006 by Neos Productions, Hawaii.
In Teaching
dahlia has taught from the age of 12. She formally taught high school both in her home country of Jamaica, W.I., and in Jersey City, NJ as a substitute teacher. She holds her M.Sc. in Special Education from PACE University and works as a Special Education Teacher for grades 6-8 in the New York City Department of Education's District 75.
